Well this walk was arranged by Anna Studholme for the Rocktarts Group. However, I was invited and thought it a good day out for my friend and next door neighbour Steve. He likes an adrenaline buzz ! The walk was to start at Seathwaite Farm, up to Styhead and over the the Napes where the group were to 'Thread the Needle' A scramble up and over behind Napes Needle. Then to the Sphinx Rock and up Arrowhead Gully to summit Great Gable, Green Gable and Basr Brown returning via Sourmilk Gill. I had bross with me and so I planned to summit via Little Hell Gate as obviously I could not 'Thread the Needle' with him and some of the rest of the scramble up would have been to much for Bross. As we got below Napes Needle a girl got into difficulties and was very uncomfortable in this environment so Steve and I got her off the ledge she was on to a lower path. After an initial exploration with her to the otherside of the Needle the decision was made that I would lead her off the Napes back to the Stretcher box at Styhead. From there we return back to Seathwaite. So I did not get to do my route but I did get up close to Napes Needle ( not the photo shot I wanted) but got a could view of Sphinx Rock. A good day was still had and also a good night.
